back to newbury being dangerous...

Post by NOOB_SLAYER » 17 Apr 2008, 00:26

Hey guys, I havent been on in a while, just thought I'd pass on a story and some warning etc. (my appologies as i dont know where the thread is, as i havent been on for ages)

As everyone knows, newbury is getting more dangerous and a little bit nastier.
A very good friend of mine was on her way home from a friends house the other night, no later than 9pm. She was walking through Northcroft as she lives in speen, and its quicker. She was listening to her iPod and minding her own business, when she was grabbed by a large male and thrown into a bramble bush. He proceeded towards her, but she managed to get away and get home.

She was extremely shaken up, scared, and cried for what must have been a good three hours. She called me while i was enjoying a burger at everyones favourite, Rio's, so i went to her house and found it hard to get her to talk about it, which i am not surpirsed about, after which she was afraid that i would leave and asked me to stay with her.

This was extremely distressing for her (obviously) her parents and myself. I urge any one (even blokes) who happens to be walking through Northcroft or anywhere like that to walk in pairs or groups, or if you are on your own, just avoid walking through it all together. I'm sure most of you are aware its a very open space, and is mostly deserted after 5pm.

Just thought i'd share this with everyone and make every body a little bit more aware.

Cheers, Alex x

sorry to sound heartless, but the moral of the story is don't wander about in parks on your own after dark*. especially if you're a wee woman. i don't do it, and i'm an enormous man.

*and if you must, get one of those big maglites.

doesn't sound heartless at all Dave, i see where you're coming from.

True she shouldnt have walked through on her own, she thought she would be okay as she lived nearby and had never had any problems before, alas she wasnt.

She's okay now, but refuses to walk through northcroft, even in the light, dont blame her tbh.

I was also going to say, reading back, it doesnt seem that scary, being thrown into a bush, but obviously its not full detail.. so you know.

Just thought i'd spread the word and that.

One pointer.......

I would NEVER walk alone at night while listening to music.

Girls and boys.......if you've just eliminated one of your senses.....you have just put yourself at additional risk.

Agreeing with Charley here pretty much. I was beaten up a few years ago in Northcroft, but it was planned, not just some random attacker as I was walking through, but since then if I'm ever walking about in the dark on my way home I'm always really alert, I'll cross the road how ever many times I feel necessary if there is someone I think looks dodgey.
Mirror mirror can you tell
If they are kneeling in confession or if they just fell?
The mirror looks back and it knows damn well
It's really hard living when you're living with yourself.

If I saw a big cunt I'd just try and climb inside it.
