What do you all think about Gordon Brown being our next PM

Post by garymcnally » 19 May 2007, 02:24

Gordon Brown is to be our next PM. What do you all think about that? What does everyone think about the fact that the media reported it that Brown was the only only candidate that stood, allthough there was John McDonnell who was trying to rally support?
Happy now? :'-(

i dont see the point in trying to discuss central government politics as we actually cant affect shit all (sorry its the truth ) but if more people where to get involved in local politics and try to make a change on a comunity level something could happen. people seem to allways get caught up hating or focusing on the big leaders and forget to actually get involved at a level they stand a chance or doing something. to much time ,energy and resources wasted on trying to attack giants ...

i say vote for metal Dave

you may not see the point in discussing something because we cannot change it.. but why discuss anything then?

I'm sure you've had conversations about plenty of things you have no control over.

i quite enjoy having conversations about things i have absolutely no control over. but a bit of social commentary never hurt anyone. does get on your tits a bit after the drunk loop kicks in and you hear the same opinion expressed in a slightly different way for the 40th time

The drugs barely had any influence on the fact that I failed. I failed because I was doing a course I didn't enjoy; I was aware of the fact that I didn't enjoy the course when I started it but I wanted to try and stick it through. Fact is I am more of a humanities person; science just isn't for me. This was reflected in the results I got in the two essays we were given for Biology - I got 80% all-round. These were the only essays given for the science foundation year; the rest of the coursework was mostly equations and what-not for Chemistry and Maths.

I'm going to be studying English Language now (it was the subject I initially wanted to study but decided against, thinking I'd have more job prospects if I did a science degree), and I'm really, really excited about this. I've already got a head start because I've been reading the main book for the first year (half way through it) and I've enjoyed it a lot. Child language acquisition, which I'm just getting onto reading now, is so interesting.

But, yeah, I am going to cut down on the drugs - the harder stuff at least. :P

To be honest, I reckon it's the softer stuff that's more likely to affect studies and whatnot.

Aye, I cut down my smoking to about a quarter of my previous level and entirely quit everything else in order to be able to actually do well at uni, and even then there were times were I had to decide between working or smoking for a a week at a time (chose working innit, pays off).

It's not just Gordon Brown that has let everyone down. It's the whole New Labour movement. They've been about as left wing as a Klan rally.

I don't quite get who you are reffering to as "Red scum" but the majority of the people on the real left can't stand Brown, Blair or any other Labour MP's and never have.

I think what we need is not to vote the tories in and have an even worse four years of privatisation and de-regulation of industry, or the Lib Dems and have a pretty stagnant four years where nothing changes. We need the people in charge of the country to have the interests of the majority of the people at hand, not big business. We need an end to the market driven neo-liberal policies that have been inflicted on us.

...and more freedom for our trade unions
